Cardiff’s sire, Holsteiner Conquest van de Helle, comes from one of the most valuable Holstein stallions - Corrado I. Corrado I was very successful on international level with his rider Frankie Sloothak and sired several Grand Prix jumpers and breeding stallions. Conquest’s dam Florida, who herself competed very successfully up to level 145 cm, is by the famous Holstein stallion Calando I. Conquest van de Helle was born in Belgium and shortly after becoming a breeding stallion he moved to Canada. Here, under his new name Beaulieu’s Conquest, he competes as well as breeds mares. He passes his elegance, dynamic of jumping and great mind onto his offspring in Canada, USA and Europe.
Maternal sire, sorrel Selle Francais stallion, was born in France and sold to a show stable in Belgium. Unfortunately, before he started his show career, he died at the age of 4.
Cardiff started his show career in 2011 with his trainer and rider Ondrej Zvara. Together they competed in and outside of the Czech Republic up to 120 cm level. The next year they started placing at CSI young horses events.
2012 was very busy for Cardiff. He competed internationally up to young horses CSI** category in various countries including Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia and Austria. In June he ended up 5th at CSI* Saint Norbert in Zduchovice small tour. In August he won silver at Martinice Championship for young horses in both preliminary round and finals in 6 year old category. He then competed at KMK in Zduchovice taking 5th place in his category. He finished the season attending the World Championship for Young Horses in Lanaken, Belgium, where he jumped clean in the first round. After this season Cardiff was among the five nominees for the Horse of the Year title in 7 and under category.
In March, 2013, Cardiff placed 8th after his clean run in 135 cm level in 7 year old horses category in Vidauban, France. A week later at CSI in Belgium he ended up 4th in the same category. In May he competed in Slovakia at CSI* in Pezinok and finished 2nd in the finals for young horses at 135 cm level. After two months of recovering from his injury, Cardiff started competing again in Kreuth and Wiener Neustadt at CSI for 7 year old horses at 135 and 140 cm levels.
In 2014, Cardiff competed at 145 cm level. He started with taking 4th place in Kreuth, Germany. In June, he competed at international CSI-W3* in Olomouc and took 10th place in Gold Tour 140 cm. A month later, also in Olomouc, Cardiff finished 3rd at the Middle Europe Jumping Cup at 135 cm level. He finished the season strong in Ebreichsdorf, competing at 140 cm level with only a single fault out of his five starts. This year he also competed at level T* for the first time.
Due to a mild injury, Cardiff only attended a limited amount of events in 2015, but he started competing at a higher level of 155 cm. He started the season in Kreuth winning his class of 65 entries in 135 cm. He competed at CSIO4* in Linz, Austria taking 5th place in the Silver Tour 140 cm. Later that year he jumped at CSI**** Ebreichsdorf at 145 and 155 cm level. He also attended CSIO5* in Sopot, Poland, jumping at 140 and 150 cm level. Although he was not heavily shown during this season, it was clear that Cardiff is maturing and soon will be able to succeed at the highest level of the competition.
Cardiff is very soft, elegant looking modern type stallion. He is already one of the stars of Arcus Stables with high expectations for the top competitions. He is very talented, easy to ride with very good movement mechanics.
